The Australian STAR Rating Scheme features more than 7,000 properties across six defined categories or types of accommodation. Click on the relevant category name to view and download the PDF document:

Category
Description
Properties that offer fully serviced guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms (excluding Pubs). Guests expect the availability of daily housekeeping services, as well as access to a dedicated reception area or service desk during their stay. This category includes Resorts and Apartment Hotels.
Properties that feature fully serviced guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Guests expect the availability of daily housekeeping services, as well as access to a dedicated reception area or service desk during their stay. Motels generally offer guests complimentary on-site car parking, or nearby car-parking facilities if located in CBD areas.
Properties that offer self contained units, ranging from studio apartments through to one-two-three bedroom or penthouse apartments. Guests expect the availability of daily housekeeping services, as well as access to a dedicated reception area or service desk during their stay.
Properties that offer self catered accommodation such as studio, one-two-three bedroom, or penthouse apartments, as well as cottages, chalets, villas, cabins or houses. Guests expect to be fully self sufficient throughout the course of their stay.
Properties that offer hosted accommodation such as Bed & Breakfast, Guesthouse or self-contained cabins, lodges and houses. Guests expect to interact with their resident host and to receive a highly personalised experience during their stay.
Properties that offer powered and unpowered sites for caravans and tents as well as self contained holiday units or cabins. Guests will expect a range of amenities located within a Park or located nearby, such as a dedicated reception area, access to groceries, or recreational facilities.
