STARS XML Feed

AAA Tourism now offers a free service for industry partners to provide a direct XML Feed of accurate and up-to-date STAR Rating information for accommodation properties.

The XML Feed is a free service which will:

significantly reduce time to manually check STAR Rating information for individual properties
ensure the STAR Rating information for your listed properties is accurate and up-to-date
provide you with the ability to access the data as often as required through a web service based solution

The XML Feed web service is designed so that you can automate the collection of the STAR Ratings of properties (via a HTTP SOAP message) verified by AAA Tourism and display them on your website to avoid further manual processing.

After your initial set up, the following information will be returned from the Feed to ensure that accurate information is received about the property and their STAR Rating information:

Unique ID
Property Name (using a Double Metaphone Algorithm to achieve the best match)
Scheme Name (e.g. Hotel, Backpackers etc)
Section Description (e.g. where a motel may have a section of their property which are self-contained cottages)
STAR Rating of the property
Rating Variation (where one property may have part of their property at a different Rating)
Eco-Friendly STAR Accreditation (if they participate in this program)
Last Rating Change
Date Last Updated

Please note that the Feed is not updated in real time, but is refreshed on a weekly basis on a Wednesday. Due to the fact that the data does not change with great frequency, the service will not need to be accessed more than once a week. It is recommended to ensure the accuracy of your STAR Rating information, the Feed is scheduled to be accessed on a monthly basis.

As the owner of the registered STARS certification Trade Marks, AAA Tourism has the exclusive right to use (and authorise others to use) STAR Ratings in respect of the services registered. Incorrect display of STAR Ratings is not only a breach of AAA Tourisms registered STARS Certification Trade Marks but is also a breach of the State Fair Trading Acts and/or the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Commonwealth).
